Summer in the Aravis is very warm, sunny and calm for long periods. Many people only come for winter, but summer is such a relaxing and beautiful time to visit the French Alps. If you can shake yourself from the sun on the balcony, there are lots of places to explore and activities to do in La Clusaz and around. In high summer the ski lifts operate, allowing walkers, sightseers, paragliders and mountain bikers to make the most of the possibilities. Walking. In the summer, many of the best walks in the Aravis are literally on the doorstep, with endless possibilities of glorious panoramas without involving a car. Whether you fancy a long day hike and reaching mountain peaks such as Point Percee, the highest in the region, or short walks to lookout points, you are perfectly positioned You can walk up Danay, a peak at 1750m, from behind the apartment. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours and gives a 360 degree view of the whole mountain range. Stunning. When you arrive, Alex will be happy to give you some walk ideas and directions. Biking. There are lots of cross country biking and off road riding trails right from the door - especially over from Lac des Confins, with descents into Le Grand Bornand one way, and through the woods to La Clusaz the other.
La Clusaz opens up the ski lifts in summer, allowing access to some brilliant downhill for serious bikers. There is also a huge amount of road biking and cycling in the area. The Tour de France stays in Le Grand Bornand which is quite a spectacle. The bike ride to it is famous and punishing - up and over the Col de Colombiere from the valley floor. Another classic cycle is the Col des Aravis, and many will ride down towards Annecy too. Options are endless. Lots of other activities. Parapenting courses and one off experiences are available - the area is very popular for that. Fishing permits are available for the nearby lac de Confins which is stocked with Trout.
In the summer season golfing is possible nearby. The sunny and beautifully located outdoor swimming pool is open. There is a luge run down into the centre of town. Mini golf available. Annecy Lake is also well worth a day trip. Sunbathe on the beaches by the crystal lake, hire pedalos or kayaks and go for a swim - its really warm. |
